SYCBA class learning to sail at the beach

Fleet Profile

Beneteau 7.5m (25ft Keelboat) for Adults or Youth
These six smart looking keelboats are the SYCBA’s most recent acquisition. The Beneteau’s are a great training yacht due to their superior responsiveness, high level stability and well designed layout. The Beneteau’s are sailed with a mainsail and an option of two jibs and are able to accommodate a crew of four or five people with a Yachting Australia qualified instructor on board. Wet weather gear and life jackets are provided.

Pacer (dinghy) for Children (Aged 12+) & Adults
The Pacers are 11ft long and are ideal for two people to learn to sail in, due to their stability and simple layout. The Pacer has great buoyancy and is sailed with two sails (mainsail and jib). The Pacers are a part of the Yachting Australia “Get Into Small Boat Sailing” scheme.

Optimists (dinghy) for Children aged 7 – 15 years
The Optimist is recognised as the International training boat for juniors.  Designed for one or two aspiring young sailors, the Optimist is sailed with a mainsail. The Optimists have proved to be extremely popular among junior sailors especially when racing in the school holiday programs!
