Category description:
The Tackers1 Holiday Program is THE perfect way to introduce your child to the wonderful sport of sailing. This course which runs for four days from 9.00am to 12.00pm is the first step in Yachting Victorias junior sailing pathway. The Tackers program emphasises safety, fun and participation.
The Holiday Program uses Optimists and the larger Pacer dinghy, which students can progress to as they gain confidence. Our coaches have years of experience in running Junior Sailing Programs and many of the participants return for repeat experiences.
The course covers:
*Safety awareness
*On and off water games
*Rigging
*Ropework
*Sailing techniques and maneuvers
*Rescue procedures
*Launching and recovery
WHAT TO BRING
Wetsuits are ideal and are a good purchase if your child loves the water. Otherwise base layers should be thermal (not cotton). Mid layer should consist of a fleece or woolen jumper with a spray jacket over the top.
Shoes or wetsuit booties are an absolute must.
All students should have a hat either a beanie in colder months or a broad brimmed hat in warmer months.
Morning tea is taken each day so please include a snack and drink for your child.
The program concludes with a presentation on the last day.
Parents are most welcome and this occurs at 11.30am.
